Khanpur lake and dam is located in Khanpur town, somewhere between Taxila and Haripur and can be easily sighted along the roadside. One of my favorite spot since ages. Since childhood I used to come here at weekends and enjoyed the serenity and vastness of the lake. In 90's it was not commercialized but now the whole belt along the lake was taken by different resorts and providing some of the best water sports facilities to adrenaline junkie. There are multiple resorts but I visited Mabali.  Mabali has very easy access especially if you coming from KPK or Islamabad. We used Hazara Expressway this time and exit from Haripur toll plaza, took right towards Khanpur. Last time I visited here from Taxila side.  One of the beautiful archealogical site near taxila is Pipplan, declared as an archeological world heitage site by UNESCO.

Taxila remains a unique center to Gandhara Civilization in past. Today one of the well known place for stone crafts and other traditional handicrafts that are specialty of Taxila region and surroundings only in Pakistan. The road from Taxila to Khanpur has multiple such shops. Don't miss these handicrafts shops along roadside especially from Taxila to Khanpur road or whenever you travel towards Khanpur lake. There are lots of beautiful vases and bowls available for different kind of flowers. I am going to share some of the nice vases in different sizes. Some are made for keeping artificial flowers and plants while some of the more sophisticated one for spring flowers. They looks so nice on the table especially during spring season. Most of them are made of plaster of Paris, with engraved designs and different painting over it. 

I found some beautiful decoration stuff at display in a market of Taxila, that I really found unique in itself because these are handicrafts and engraved with so precision. One of my favorite image is the first one, Mommy deer love along with its baby. Nice stuff for drawing rooms.
