Carpet weaving
There are lots of traditional design's carpets available in the market. Last day i happen to visit a carpet market situated in "BARA market" Peshawar. Though nomadic and tribal Afghan population
constantly traveling from one place to another.Their rugs mostly woven on small
portable looms are mainly produced for use in their homes or selling on
very small scale. some times these hand woven carpets are too much expensive to purchase for ordinary use.
Usually Afghan carpets are famous but i was surprised to know that non of these carpets are Afghan made. It included Turkish, Iranian, Tajikistan and other such countries with Chinese made in abundance. The shop owner told me the reason that carpet weaving machinery is so expensive and hard to manage in a country like Afghanistan. So mostly the owners would prefer to start their carpet weaving industry in other countries like Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan etc.
However the carpet weaving industry have developed
much , not only producing traditional nomadic style of carpets but also a
mixture of modern and traditional styles. I found some of the beautiful stuff there.
The price range varies from size to size and also design and quality of course. The highest price range were between 45 to 65 thousand Rs. While the most economical one yet the smallest one cost about 6 thousand Rs only. I wonder such a huge variety and price range that may comes under every one budget. So nice.
Let me share here the photographs that i have taken there. The staff was so friendly and they do offer their services at door step.
I always wanted one of the more classic designs on a rug
